Being a Volunteen at Skaggs Regional Medical Center is a great opportunity for young people to do something worthwhile during their summer. It allows teens to have an opportunity to think about career opportunities in medicine, builds character, enhances social skills and the desire to serve others, and establishes leadership skills.
Qualifications of a Volunteen
- Be between ages 16 to 18 years old
- Maintain a grade point average of C+ or above Maintain a grade point average of C+ or above

- Complete an application and an interview
- Complete an orientation process and training as well as any needed health screening
- Read and agree to a confidentiality agreement
- Agree to a commitment of at least 4 hours per week at one of two shifts, 8 a.m. - 12 noon or 12 noon - 4 p.m.
- Adhere to the volunteen dress code
Volunteen Positions
Some of the hospital functions that volunteens serve in include:
- Assisting hospital departments with tasks
- Assisting patient transport
- Running errands for patients or hospital departments
- Helping patients with watering flowers, getting fresh ice water or visiting with them
