At the first of this year Skaggs Regional Medical Center announced that it was beginning the detailed process of seeking a strategic partner with like focus on quality care for the community.
“This week I updated our directors and Board of Trustees on the Request for Proposal (RFP) process,” said William Mahoney, Skaggs CEO and President. “We had a great response and have narrowed down our selection to six entities. Representatives from all six will be invited to present to our board of directors why they would be the best fit for our hospital and community. The board will review their initial proposals, discuss the presentations and then at their regularly scheduled April board meeting, three to four finalists will be chosen to continue in the process.”
Once the board has selected its finalists, Mr. Mahoney will inform internal and external stakeholders of the board’s decision. “Our goal is to name one hospital system as our potential partner after the aforementioned process is completed,” says Mahoney. “We will at that time sign a nonbinding letter of intent. There will then be a deeper review of each other’s internal workings and final details that will need to be worked out. This is expected to take roughly 60 days.”
