Volunteers will assemble for a clean-up weekend at Rockaway Beach, April 25-27. This partnership of community members, area businesses and churches and more is the first community development project of its kind for the town.
The community development group is supported by representatives from 24Kt Country, Arrowhead Building Supply, B&L Outdoor Power Equipment, B.A.T. Boys Automotive, Bridge of Faith Community Church, City of Branson, City of Hollister, City of Rockaway Beach, CoxHealth, Earls Family Broadcasting, First Baptist Church, Herschend Family Entertainment (including Jack and Sherry Herschend and representatives from Silver Dollar City and White Water), Home Depot, Imax, Jesus Was Homeless, LUC Boys Ranch, MoDot, Spectrum Paint, Tanco Lumber, TRAC, Rural Compassion/Convoy of Hope and Westgate Resorts.
“This is huge, having so many entities, pool their resources together to positively impact Rockaway Beach,” says Jonathan McGuire, Pastor of Bridge of Faith Community Church. “These projects are going to help foster a since of pride and ownership and unite our community members.”
The clean-up event will focus on the areas along Hwy 176 (Main Street), including the city park, community garden and the Pizza Cellar. Projects include landscape, litter pick-up, painting and more.
Volunteers are still need and are asked to start in the Rockaway Beach city party to sign in and receive their assignment. Amvets Post 78 will provide lunch for volunteers all three days. Check in on Friday and Saturday is at 9 a.m. Check in on Sunday begins at 11:30.
